We used different material and played around with different patterns to make something that had a structure to it.
I started out with using a compass to map out a repetitive sequence changing the circle 1cm each time and working out and bigger each cm. I then tried to apply that to 3d form so that it would spiral out in way, but that wasn't really working. So I moved on to making smaller oragami style forms, by just folding the paper into itself.
From folding and playing around with this oragami style of folding and thought about how Maori use flax to make different things like putiputi (flowers) and kete (baskets) and the same idea is used as well, like folding into itself.
So using some card I tried to replicate that same idea....
The first one I tried with only a 2 plat and then tried a 3 plat with the second one, but didn't have the same effect as the first one because the 2 plat was more stronger and folded a lot nicer than the 3 plat.
I think I will continue with this style and form and see if I can write an algorithm to go with it.
